Creating Space For Change: March 2025 Edition
5 Years of Entrepreneurship
Five years ago, I changed my world—then COVID changed the world for everyone.
February 2020 marked the start of my journey as an entrepreneur. I had been working towards this goal for 2.5 years. In the months leading up to February, I was confident in my skills as a coach and a change management consultant, but I knew little about running my own business.
In six short weeks, the uncertainty I felt about learning to run a business paled in comparison to the overwhelm and uncertainty that everyone around me was feeling.
The first six months of entrepreneurship looked like this:
- The safety of my family, friends and neighbours came first;
- I pushed myself outside my comfort zone to join virtual networking events. The kind where you can’t hide;
- I spent what felt like days in my office making one pivot after another as I attempted to create a new business plan, only popping out to ensure my son was logged into his Google Classroom;
- Keeping up with the ever-changing COVID rules was a part-time job;
- Doubting if owning a business was right for me.
Somewhere in the ooey-gooey, messy middle of it all, I realized just how resilient I am; and in the months that followed, I decided to bet on myself.
I had been holding on to the dream of owning my own business for a long time, longer than the 2.5 years of planning to leave corporate. My dreams were worth it then, and still are today...and so are yours!
Trusting and betting on myself is something I practice every day. It isn’t easy, but damn it, I am worth it.
Dream Big and Take Care!
